Two glorious days spent in Wellington relaxing, resting, walking around the cool city and spending the evenings with Casey.
I ate heaps of thai food and kebabs while in Wellington, and well as delicious fish and chips and well, anything that took my fancy really.
I had a few chores to do in preparation for the South Island.
I needed to send a box of food to Arthur’s Pass, and then buy my food for the first 4-6day stint too.
I went to the museum, Te Papa, and they had an incredible exhibition on World War 1 and the Gallipoli ANZAC story. Incredible and very moving.
I really enjoyed Wellington, it reminds me a lot of Melbourne,Australia where I lived for a short time a few years ago. I feel like I had an excellent rest up, clean up and prepared for the South Island.
I’m really lucky I didn’t need to do any major gear swaps or replacements as a few people did, as it meant although I had stuff to do, I didn’t need to rush rush around.
I was to take the 330am Interislander ferry sailing to Picton, so I walked to the terminal and then slept for a good while. Very smooth sailing!
