Today- 28.5km from Arrowtown to Queenstown
Total- 2666 km
So much fun and laughter today. Left Arrowtown just before 8am to start the stroll into Queenstown on various cycle/walking local tracks.
Manged to get lost several times and end up on a golf course, and finally into the right trail near Lake Hayes, a beaut of a walk around with the impressive mountains rising all around.
It was a nice temperature to be walking, and both Emeric and I were pretty tired, so had some good laughs and jokes most of the morning.
Stopped for a well deserved cheese and cracker break at Lake Hayes.
Found a trampoline on the side of the trail to bounce on and wound our way through the suburbs of outer Queenstown to Frankton where we had lunch near Pak n Save.
Passed the poo pond, what a view .
Ran into Francois and Marion who were hitching to Queenstown, and heading to Glenorchy that evening.
After lunch, time for resupply at Pak n Save. So many good bargains and we decided to get some hokey pokey icecream and sat outside sharing a 2L tub.
After loading all our stuff into our bags, it was time to keep cruising towards Queenstown. We did well, after smashing 1L each of icecream, we could still walk.
After a scenic stroll around Lake Wakatipu we arrived in Queenstown, and it was bustling with loads of people.
We got a couple of cold beers and ordered some pizza and enjoyed an early dinner on the lake front to celebrate my 4 months on trail!! Woohoo!
After dinner we got a ride to Glenorchy where we saw Marion and Francois again and we are staying st the campground there.
Epic sunset on the lake, excited for the next few days doing the Routeburn track as a side trail.
