Today – 30km from Parawai Lodge to Waikanae Hoiday Park

Total 1602km

The track was a treat today- not too much mud and pretty well formed.

Cool dr Seuss forest, and even some switchbacks! What!

Started off about 8am, after a nice lie in till 7.

Caught up with Marte and Jasper who had arrived last night after their Tararua epic of the northern and southern crossings.

Climbed up to the summit where we saw about zero views and then kept going down and down and down.

Was a big contrast coming out of the tararuas into a heavily logged area, following an uneven path for a few kms till it came out st a carpark.

5km later had me at a cafe where I caught up with Johnny [Aussie] and Lana [German] for some delicious nachos.

The next five kms were into the town of Waikanae, loaded up with some fresh goods from new world then headed off the last 5km to the holiday park.

It was a nice river track and the holiday park is nice , great shower after 8 days!

Decided to join Laine and Ralph, Iben and Marte and Jasper for dinner to celebrate 1600km and we all had pizzas and beer and even a little whiskey.
