Today- 23km from St Arnaud to John Tait HutTotal- 1958kmBack to the trail ! Said goodbye to Tom this morning and then lay in a couple of hours before finding an appropriate breakfast, a delicious pie.Went to check if there was room at Lake Angelus hut or campsite for tonight as an alternative start to the track but unfortunately not.
Began around 11am and ambled for a couple of hours through beautiful beech forest towards lakehead hut, my lunch stop.
Had some yarns with a couple of kiwi families who had driven their boats across the lake and were having a lovely Sunday arvo tea at the hut.
Decided to keep going up the valley to John Tait hut for the night.
The weather was stunning and I was appreciating the ease of the nicely graded track. Once past Lakehead hut the views opened up and wow, every direction stunning views.
Met some other hikers on their way to the hut , a lot of people doing the Travers-Sabine circuit.
Nice evening at the hut playing cards with new friends and chatting.
